(Proposed sample search webform) (for this sample, the dropdown lists (and calendar) are not populated, since that would be presented from the live database)
This page is NOT yet designed, just a rough sketch to show some possible search functions...

CHURCH MUSICIAN SUBSTITUTE - DATABASE SEARCH

THIS DATABASE SEARCH IS FOR CHURCHES SEEKING A SUBSTITUTE/SPECIAL SERVICE  MUSICIAN.

PICK ANY COMBINATION BELOW OF SPECIFIC FILTERS/CONSTRAINTS YOU'D LIKE
AND THEN CLICK SEARCH TO VIEW AVAILABILITIES AND CONTACTS

Note: The information supplied by substitutes has been screened to the best of our abilities, but there is no guarantee to the accuracy.
Availability information may or may not be current, depending on if the substitute has updated their calendar data.

Find substitutes available that match your following criteria:

SERVICE DENOMINATION

CHURCH ZIPCODE (substitutes may not want to travel more than, say, 50 miles; perhaps a travel fee could be added if past their range)

INSTRUMENT PERFORMED ON

INSTRUMENTAL ROLE

CONDUCTOR/DIRECTOR INVOLVEMENT

VOCAL INVOLVEMENT

SERVICE TYPE

SERVICE MEDIA RESTRICTIONS

LEVEL/TRAINING NEEDED

MAXIMUM FEE OFFERED (fee for service & warmup only; midweek rehearsal is extra)
Substitutes whose minimum fee is above this amount will be displayed.

SCHEME 1 - SIMPLE -
SELECT WHEN SUBSTITUTE MUSICIAN IS NEEDED:

SCHEME 2 - ADVANCED
-
SELECT DATE SUBSTITUTE MUSICIAN IS NEEDED:
(Note: For the above selected criteria, if no substitute in our database has registered to be available on a given date, that date is grey;
clickable dates have musicians supposedly available, but in reality if people have not updated their availability profile, the database would not know about their being occupied already for that date. You may want to adjust the above criteria to perhaps have more matches.)

(not a live search at this time; just for demonstration purposes)

A possible added feature could be: When the search results are returned, if the number of matches is, say, fewer than 1 or 2, then
some hints could be shown for which parameter(s) could be changed to match more. i.e., which constraints were too selective.
A common one would most surely be Subst Minimum Fee Considered. Thus a hint-message could be displayed:
for more matches, please try a higher Fee Offered.
